Till date, there is no proper awareness about fire safety in our country, especially in West Bengal. Now a day, trained safety personnel with technical background are highly in demanded.

Durgapur Institute for Fire Safety & Management is an institute for imparting skill based development program and training to its students. The Mission and Vision of the Institute is to impart the "Practical based Training" which is beneficial for students to make them worth in the job world along with their technical skills and also provide manpower of its choice to industry and institutes as per need.

Several progressive employers have delegated this responsibility to especially employed officers variously designated as Safety Supervisor, Safety Officer & Security personnel, Fire Man, Driver cum Pump Operator, Health Sanitary Inspector, HSE personnel and so on. Durgapur Institute for Fire Safety & Management is to bring such personnel together Fire and Safety with a view to promote competency and efficiency among the professionals taking to responsibility of safety functions in the growing industries.

Rajnath Basak Memorial Ambulance Division of St. John Ambulance (India) is engaged in continuous training and certification on First Aid in Senior Professional and Voucher, Home Nursing, Health & Hygiene and Mother Craft.

Durgapur Institute for Fire Safety & Management has started its journey from January 31, 2018 under the Trust named Rajnath Basak Memorial Foundation. The Trust was registered under Rule 43, West Bengal Registration Rules, 1962 and having Trust Deed Number IV- 020100069/2017. The Secretary of the said Trust is nominated as Founder Director of Durgapur Institute for Fire Safety & Management.

Durgapur Institute for Fire Safety & Management is situated in a very calm and quiet atmosphere, at the outskirts of the city of Durgapur. Durgapur Institute for Fire Safety & Management is situated in Rajbandh, Durgapur which is one of the proud cities of the State West Bengal where new education and technical development are at a rapid pace and also the city is known as "Education Hub" of the State. Durgapur has always concentrated on the quality of education.

Durgapur Institute for Fire Safety & Management is mainly focuses on the innovative approach to Fire Engineering, Industrial Safety Management, Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Management System and Health Management sector.
